Having grown up around Lake Chelan, we’ve experienced a lot of its beauty and all the fantastic, family-friendly things that the surrounding area has to offer. No matter what season of the year it is, there’s always an amazing adventure waiting to be experienced while you and your family take in the glorious landscape of mountains, trees, and the lake!
To make your trip that much more spectacular, we’ve compiled a list of some great family-friendly activities we enjoy doing and think you will too during your next visit.
Here are some suggestions of exciting things to do with your family around Lake Chelan.
Riding Bikes
If you’re looking for a great way to take in all of the sites and charm around Lake Chelan without using a vehicle, we have just the thing for you and the entire family to enjoy.
After checking in with us at the Lodge, head 5 minutes walking distance down the road to By Cycle Adventures and rent yourself and the family some electric bikes.
Whether you’re pedaling or set for cruise mode, zipping around on these electric bikes around Lake Chelan is a classic way of uncovering all the North Shore’s gems.
Activities on the Lake
I think it’s safe to say that spending a lot of time in the crystal blue water or soaking up some sunshine on the lakeshore is at the top of your family’s activity list whenever you visit Lake Chelan.
However, it may get a bit overwhelming trying to find a spot near the lake that is not too crowded with other visitors.
Luckily, we have a few spot recommendations that are great for avoiding the crowds so you and your family can enjoy one another and the tranquility of your surroundings.
Rent a Boat
One of the best ways to experience all of this great lake is by renting a boat and venturing along the 55 miles of blue water on Lake Chelan.
The most convenient spot to rent a boat from, and is only 7 minutes walking distance from the Lodge, is Shoreline Watercraft located right at Manson Bay Marina. There you can find a great assortment of boats, jet skis, and even paddleboards.
After renting a boat, you and the family are free to roam the entire lake and discover new shoreline spots for a nice picnic.
Manson Bay Park
This spot is a great place to bring the family if you’re looking for a great site with a nice grassy field next to the shoreline, a lifeguard, a large dock for jumping, diving, playing, and even free swim lessons.
Manson Bay Park is a short walk from the Lodge and a great spot that offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape and a great place to swim during summer.
Chelan Falls Park
You and the family don’t want to miss this next spot. Located in Chelan Falls, roughly 22 minutes driving distance from the Lodge, Chelan Falls Park has it all. Great parking, 33 acres of beautiful beach-like areas with access to the warm Columbia River for swimming, a large grassy area to enjoy, shoreline trails, a boat launch, and even a tennis court if you and the family are feeling competitive.
Chelan Falls Park is the spot if you’re looking for a nice, secluded area to lay some beach towels down.
Slide Waters Water Park
This last recommendation will be a real treat for the whole family to enjoy together!
If you’re looking for thrills, slide over to Slide Waters Water Park and get tubular.
This 19 attraction water world has something for everyone of all ages:
- State of the art citywave® wave pool for safe and controlled surfing
- A lazy river so you can go with the flow
- A zero-depth beach area to splash around in
- A variety of slides if you feel like going fast
- Tube rides for the real thrill-seekers
