No matter what time of the year it is, Lake Chelan is the four-seasoned gift that keeps giving all year, EVERY year. The winter season is one of those gifts that amazes visitors with all its charm, exciting activities, and stunning sunsets.
From having a fun day on the slopes with your family to enjoying a relaxing evening by a cozy fire while marveling at the beautiful mountains, it’s “snow” wonder why people continue choosing Lake Chelan as their winter destination.
To help you maximize the seasonal fun, we’ve made a list of the best ways to spend your winter vacation in Lake Chelan. Here are four of our favorite activities here at the Lodge.
Tubing & Sledding
Do you remember that joyous feeling the first time you went sledding? The excitement that you felt when you first saw the snow-covered hill. The exhilaration after pushing off the snow to start your descent down the hill on your sled? Or even the laughter as you plowed through the fluffy snow with the wind in your hair? Relive those moments with your family when you visit one of these wonderful locations in Lake Chelan.
One location that guests love visiting is Echo Valley. Just 9 miles from The Lodge, this winter wonderland is an ideal spot for you and your family to enjoy the casual outdoor fun of tubing. With multiple snow lanes to slide down, race your family members and try to be the first one down the hill!
Echo Valley is a wonderful family fun area with food and ski rentals available! Also, the burgers are great! It’s beautiful up there, very affordable, and a drive away from The Lodge!
Skiing & Snowboarding
Winter is certainly here and in full motion. That means, grab your skis, grab your snowboards, and get ready to ride some fresh powder. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen, because hitting the slopes on a clear, blue-skied morning is a popular winter activity around Lake Chelan.
When you come to visit, be sure to mark Echo Valley as your next skiing and snowboarding location to ride. This mountain offers so much for such little cost. From 900 vertical feet of groomed snow runs to short lines, you can’t go wrong with this exciting resort.
Are you looking to be more active on your skis instead of speeding down the mountain? Why not give cross-country skiing a try? Located just 2 miles past the Echo Valley Ski Area, Echo Ridge offers 25 miles of groomed trails and is available for cross-country ski riders of all skill levels. This scenic ridge-top location provides rolling groomed cross-country ski trails, and breathtaking views of Lake Chelan and the Stewart Range. Some trails are even open to dogs in case you want company or competition.
Snowshoeing
Carving and cruising down a snow-covered mountain at high speeds is an amazing way to experience the terrain, but sometimes slowing down the place is an even better way to fully appreciate your surroundings. One of the best ways to fully take in and enjoy the snow-covered trails is snowshoeing. It’s a fun and easy way to experience trails, even if they are covered in a foot of fresh snow.
In addition to providing trails for cross-country skiers, Echo Ridge also offers two trails, Switchback Alley and Shoe Trailheads, for those interested in experiencing Lake Chelan’s hills in a completely different way.
Playing in the Snow
There’s something about the snow that truly brings out the spirit of winter. Whether there’s mild snow falling from the sky or it’s sticking to the ground like a fluffy white blanket, our imaginations run wild with all of the possible ways to enjoy it. You could build a snowman, make snow angels, or simply take a leisurely stroll through the snow while admiring the crystal clear skies and sunshine we often get on this side of the mountains.
If you are looking for a fun and relaxing way to experience the snow, throw on your coat and take a walk through town or one of the many miles of trails located in the Lake Chelan Valley.
