For the last 40 years the community of Manson has put on one of the largest 4th of July fireworks shows in the Northwest. Lake Chelan Valley businesses, residents, both the Manson Chamber of Commerce and Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, and visitors alike contribute to present this fabulous, annual tradition. But 2020 has found a way to bring new challenges. Someone said, a challenge is just another way to find another success… and so it is with our 4th of July.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic many cities have decided to either cancel or modify their 4th of July events to allow for social distancing. Although there will be viewing modifications, the Manson Chamber of Commerce decided not to break from tradition and will put on their unique show. The 2020 fireworks show will be held in Manson Bay on July 4th between 10:15 PM and 10:30PM as normal. Usually, a live band and thousands of people gather at the bay to watch right under the fireworks showers but this year folks will need to find remote locations to watch. Here in Manson, that’s really not a problem and if you’re a registered guest of Mountain View Lodge you’re in luck! The fireworks are shot high into the sky from a barge out in the middle of Manson Bay making us ALMOST under the showers.
There are many other great places to watch the show, as well. Parking for car viewing can be found at Leffler Field and the North Shore Bible Church. There is a great little pullout on Chapman Road where people can watch the fireworks from the comfort of their vehicle. There are lots of other little spots you can find, and the viewing from the South Shore is amazing. Some people bring their pickup trucks and enjoy a picnic and the show from the back of their truck.
If you’re one of the lucky ones with a room right here with us, grab a chair and a cold drink and enjoy the show at the Lodge with your MVLR Family. We are looking forward to enjoying the show with you. Happy Independence Day!
